The Stingray is a purpose-designed 3D printer bed release tool developed to help remove prints safely and efficiently from build plates. The geometry positions the blade at an optimal shallow angle, allowing it to slide flush against the print surface and lift models without digging into the build plate.
Unlike many metal scrapers that use thick edges which can damage surfaces or prints, this tool is designed specifically for 3D printing workflows. It is suitable for use with common print surfaces including PEI sheets, glass beds, and textured build plates.
Features
• Optimized blade angle designed for safe model removal• Reduces risk of damaging the build plate or printed parts• Two-piece printed design for easy assembly• Compatible with standard utility blades• Optional magnet slot for convenient storage• Suitable for most common 3D printer build surfaces
Technical Details
The tool consists of two printed components: a main base body and a blade retainer. The blade sits at a controlled angle designed to remain flush against the build plate while lifting models.
Required hardware:
• 2 × 10 mm length, 4 mm diameter flanged screws• 1 × standard utility blade (recommended: worn or dull blade)
Optional component:
• 1 × 10 mm diameter × 3 mm magnet for hanging or storage
A small piece of double-sided mounting tape can be used to help secure the blade and prevent movement.
Files Included
• Main tool body STL• Blade retainer STL
Usage Notes
Use a dull or worn utility blade to reduce the risk of injury and damage to the print surface. Always operate the tool carefully and use both hands when releasing prints. Assembly guidance can be followed from the included images.
