Pluto also had an independent lead role in 48 Disney cartoons in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.[1] Pluto stands out from other Disney characters in that he is not anthropomorphic other than an unusually wide range of facial expressions or the use of his front paws in some cases; he actually behaves like a normal dog (unlike Goofy, who is an anthropomorphic dog)[1].
