DESCRIPTION

On the market, several manufacturers make sheets of different building materials and have thought about doing some of these for a while. When someone approached me to look at doing these they complained that the cost of these sheets was getting more and more expensive, so I thought it was time to add them to my collection.

I had thought about doing them in the past with my resin printer but are probably better suited to FDM printing, I also hope to do sheets for other types of brick formations and other building materials. Roofing slates are generally fairly thin and with this design I had to get a balance between accuaracy and having some print definition so it looked realistic, hopefully I have a good balance with this design. Other options will be added as and when I get to them, so if not available please wait or feel free to contact me.

I have included the following sheet sizes (sheet sizes are based on brick size in the OO scale).14mm x 100mm, 28mm x 100mm, 56mm x 100mm, 112mm x 100mm, 168mm x 100mm.14mm x 200mm, 28mm x 200mm, 56mm x 200mm, 112mm x 200mm, 168mm x 200mm.The sheets are approximately 1.6mm thick.

designed at OO gauge, 1/76.2 scale but can easily be scaled for other gauges.for HO gauge print at 87%, 1/87 Scale, for TT gauge print at 63.5% 1/120 Scale, for O gauge UK at 175%, 1/43.5 Scale, for O gauge International print at 158%, 1/48 Scale, for N gauge print at 51.49%, 1/148 Scale, (Caution: I have not printed this model in N gauge so I can’t guarantee its printability)

The example in the pictures was printed on a Bambu Labs A1 FDM Printer. As normal with my designs, there is a balance between accuracy and printability, hopefully not affecting the look of the model too much.

For FDM printing, I used a 0.2mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.06mm using PLA+ filament (the layer height is low to minimise layer height lines). You can use a 0.4mm nozzle but the corners of the slates won't be as sharp, can also be printed in PLA but I recommend PLA+ or PETG for better durability. Note print times vary based on the amount of slates for the sheet, this isn't a design that uses a lot of filament.
