ENGLISH: Ryo Hazuki (Kanji: 芭月 涼, Rōmaji: Hazuki Ryō) is the main protagonist of the Shenmue series. He is an 18-year-old Japanese teenager who lives in Yamanose, Yokosuka, Japan.

His mother died of an illness when he was three years old. Ryo has been taught martial arts by his father, Iwao Hazuki, since he was seven. After his father was killed by Lan Di and the Dragon Mirror was stolen, Ryo swears vengeance for his father and goes on a journey throughout his hometown and China.

Shenmue is a 1999 action-adventure game developed and published by Sega for the Dreamcast. It follows the teenage martial artist Ryo Hazuki as he sets out in revenge for the murder of his father in 1980s Yokosuka, Japan. The player explores an open world, fighting opponents in brawler battles and encountering quick time events. The environmental detail was considered unprecedented, with numerous interactive objects, a day-and-night system, variable weather effects, non-player characters with daily schedules, and various minigames.

Es un joven japonés de 18 años que vive en Yamanose, Yokosuka, Japón. Su madre murió de una enfermedad cuando tenía 3 años. Ryo fue adiestrado en artes marciales por su padre, Iwao Hazuki, desde que tenía 7 años. Después de que su padre fuera asesinado por Lan Di y éste se marchara robando el espejo del dragón, Ryo obtiene un deseo de venganza que le llevará a una búsqueda de aprendizaje y madurez.

Shenmue (莎木 o シェンムー) es un videojuego para Dreamcast que fue lanzado en 1999 en Japón y en el 2000 en Estados Unidos por SEGA y su grupo AM#2, dirigido por Yu Suzuki. Se presentaba en 4 GD-ROMs e incorporaba un sistema de juego bastante innovador denominado FREE (Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment) que permitía al jugador interactuar fácilmente con un entorno de juego muy parecido a la vida real. El jugador puede mantener una vida real a través del personaje en una serie de localizaciones tomadas de lugares reales en Yokosuka (Japón), y experimentar relaciones personales, cambios de tiempo climatológico, etc., mientras sigue el hilo argumental del juego.
