George Roger Waters is an English singer-songwriter and musician, best known for his time as the bassist and lyricist for the rock band Pink Floyd. In 1965, he co-founded the band, and after Syd Barrett left in 1968, Waters took over as the band's conceptual leader and co-lead vocalist until his departure in 1985.
