DESCRIPTION

*Ancient Egyptian seated writer scribe 3d printable model*The Seated Scribe or Squatting Scribe is a renowned piece of ancient Egyptian art, depicting a scribe in a seated position. Discovered in 1850 at Saqqara, north of the alley of sphinxes leading to the Serapeum of Saqqara, the sculpture is believed to date back to either the 5th Dynasty (c. 2450–2325 BCE) or the 4th Dynasty (2620–2500 BCE) of the Old Kingdom. Currently housed in the Louvre-Lens, this sculpture is made of painted limestone, with the eyes adorned with rock crystal, magnesite, copper-arsenic alloy, and wooden nipples.

Description:This sculpture portrays a seated man, likely a scribe, dressed in a white kilt that reaches his knees. He holds a partially rolled papyrus in his hands. The most remarkable feature of the figure is its lifelike face, which contrasts with the slightly less detailed and more rigid body. The sculpture's hands, fingers, and fingernails are intricately crafted, with the hands positioned as if in the act of writing.
