When applied in the plural, it refers to the three most powerful of the seven Great Evils: Mephisto, Lord of Hatred; Diablo, Lord of Terror; and Baal, Lord of Destruction.When applied in the singular, it refers to the embodiment of all seven Great Evils in one being, which can mean either Tathamet, the original Prime Evil from whom the Seven Evils originally sprang, or Diablo when he incorporated the six other Evils into himself.Each of the Primes is incorporeal on the mortal plane, due to the events of the Dark Exile. For any of the Three to take physical form, they must take a human host. Over time, the presence of the Prime will twist the host into a grotesque simulacrum of the Prime's physical form. If the simulacrum is destroyed, the Prime is again rendered incorporeal, though can leave behind remnants of the shell.
