DESCRIPTION

Modern open-saloon commuter coach (24 m) with 40 seats, overhead racks, grab poles, LED ceiling panels and three sliding double doors per side (12 separate leaves with window, seal and pull bar). The interior is fully modelled and visible through the transparent glass. Rigged with an armature (wheels, bogies, sliding doors) and baked animations.

Highlights

  • Hollow body shell with a furnished saloon visible through windows and open doors
  • 12 sliding door leaves on door tracks with rollers
  • 40 seats, overhead racks, poles and LED panels
  • Sliding door tracks, door buttons and pillars on the outside
  • Gangways, buffers, couplers and air hoses
  • Rig: wheels roll with ground speed, bogies yaw, doors slide open / close
  • Armature CS_Rig (20 bones): Root > Body | Bogie_A/B (yaw) > Wheel bones (roll) | 12 sliding door bones. Baked actions: Wheels_Roll_Loop, Bogie_Yaw_Demo, Run_Demo, Doors_Open_Close, Rest.

Technical details

  • 86,419 polygons (80,268 triangles + 6,151 quads, no n-gons) = 92,570 triangles, 45,853 vertices, 37 welded shells
  • Mesh checked with exact triangle tests: 0 self-intersections, 0 z-fighting, 0 non-manifold edges, 0 degenerate triangles
  • 2 non-overlapping UV atlases inside 0-1 (worst overlap 0.00% of covered texels)
  • 4096 x 4096 PNG maps: Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Clear-coat, Normal (OpenGL), AO and packed ORM
  • Formats: BLEND (Blender 5.x scene), FBX, glTF 2.0 GLB, OBJ + MTL, USD / USDZ - plus a RIGGED set (FBX + GLB + BLEND with the armature and baked actions)
  • Two texture looks: the weathered set (default) and a separate CLEAN variant (new, unweathered paint) - same UV layout, own FBX / GLB / BLEND and 4096 px maps
  • Real-world scale, 1 unit = 1 m, Z up, rail head at z = 0 (1435 mm gauge). Original design, fictional names and lettering, no real railway brand or logo

Good to know

  • The mesh is a mix of triangles and quads (no n-gons) produced by exact boolean welding, so some sliver triangles exist. Shading, UVs and silhouette are clean; it is a render / game-ready mesh, not clean quad-flow topology for subdivision or deformation.
  • Real-world scale, 1 unit = 1 m, Z up, rail head at z = 0, 1435 mm gauge. Lettering and numbers are fictional; no real brand or logo.
  • Tested in Blender 5.2 (Cycles). FBX / glTF / OBJ / USD were exported from the same scene; not individually tested in Unreal / Unity.
  • Buffer and coupler height is 0.88 m, the same as the freight wagons of this series.
  • Weathering is procedural and baked into the textures (light).
  • Windows use alpha-blended glass (opacity 0.28); the Blender scene renders them as thin glass.
  • The rig moves rigid parts only (no skin weights): wheels, bogies, doors.
  • Blender's FBX / glTF importers guess bone length from child bones, so a few parent bones may look very long after import (display only; set Armature > Viewport Display > Shape to Stick).

FBX
This FBX file has successfully passed the CGT Standard technical and visual checks. The verification results are detailed in the section below.
File & scene
Binary FBX
Binary FBX file is more compact and faster to load and process.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
