Ball-and-stick molecular model of Aspartic acid (C4H7NO4), designed for chemistry teaching, scientific illustrations, presentations, and use in 3D scenes. Element-coloured spheres represent atoms and connecting sticks represent chemical bonds.
The structure contains 16 atoms, including 7 explicit hydrogen atoms, and 15 chemical bonds. Elements present: C, H, N, O. Molecular weight: 133.103 g/mol.
The generation pipeline uses RDKit to interpret the supplied SMILES and generate a three-dimensional conformer with ETKDGv3. It attempts molecular mechanics relaxation with MMFF94, or UFF when appropriate parameters are available. ASE writes the atomic-coordinate reference, and custom Python scripts construct the atom and bond meshes in Blender. The precise force field and convergence outcome are not recorded in this manifest; this workflow description is not a convergence certificate.
Atom sizes and bond thicknesses are chosen for readability. Sphere radii are display sizes, not physical atomic radii. The conformation is a computationally generated illustration, not an experimentally determined structure or a prediction of the dominant conformation in solution.
The native Blender scene contains the editable model, element materials, camera and studio lighting. Material colours are assigned directly; no image textures are needed by this pipeline. The supplied geometry can be opened without running the RDKit generation scripts.
Included files:
- source/molecule.xyz: Atomic symbols and coordinates; does not store bond connectivity.
- source/molecule.json: Molecular connectivity, coordinates, or generation settings depending on the file.
- source/blender_job.json: Molecular connectivity, coordinates, or generation settings depending on the file.
- models/aspartic_acid.blend: Native Blender scene with editable objects, materials, camera and lighting.
- previews/best_three_quarter.png: Rendered preview image, not an editable 3D model.
- previews/front.png: Rendered preview image, not an editable 3D model.
- previews/front_left_three_quarter.png: Rendered preview image, not an editable 3D model.
- previews/right.png: Rendered preview image, not an editable 3D model.
- previews/top.png: Rendered preview image, not an editable 3D model.
- models/aspartic_acid.fbx: Mesh exchange format with supported material properties.
- models/aspartic_acid.glb: Binary glTF mesh export with supported material properties.
- models/aspartic_acid.mtl: Material definitions accompanying the OBJ file, not a standalone model.
- models/aspartic_acid.obj: Wavefront mesh export; keep the accompanying MTL file beside it.
- models/aspartic_acid.stl: Triangulated geometry only; no element colours or materials.
Mesh statistics for the Blender model: 11392 vertices and 11090 polygons across 33 mesh objects. Exporters may triangulate faces or split vertices, so counts can differ between formats. Exchange-format materials may need adjustment in the receiving application.
This is a static CGI visualization asset. It is not supplied as a rigged, animated, game-optimized, simulation-ready, or certified 3D-printable model. STL availability alone does not establish printability: intersecting atom/bond meshes and detached aromatic indicators may require preparation. metadata
