Description

This is Budai (or Hotei in Japanese), the Laughing Buddha, also known as the Happy -or Fat Buddha. Supposedly the next Buddha after Gautama Buddha (the one who gained his enlightenment after 49 days under a tree, after which he became ‘Buddha’ (‘Enlightened One’)).

Budai is incorporated in the Shinto, Taoist and Buddhist culture and is a god of happiness and plenty.

Equipment used: Canon 600D (used around 300 photos),phototent+turntable,dual softbox lighting.

Software used: Agisoft Photoscan, Blender, Substance Painter. Mesh/Texture specs: 40K triangles.

The model normalmap was baked from the high resolution (4 million polygons) 3d scan. The original high resolution scan is included as well. The rest of the texturing and baking was done with Substance Painter.

The model in the preview has a 4K Metal/Roughness PBR textureset (Basecolor, Metal, Roughness, AO and Normal).
