DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

This product is the cheap version of our product Pliers clean used dirty, found here:

https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/industrial/tool/pliers-clean-used-dirty

This set has the same models, but in more formats and without the textures and materials.

CONTENT

You get the models of the following types of pliers:

  • Side cutter
  • Pipe wrench
  • Pincers
  • Combination pliers

POTENTIAL ISSUES

The original pliers were modeled with a quad-based workflow. Unfortunately, two of the formats convert everything into triangles, which means that we can't guarantee a mesh built with quads (only if you are using those formats, of course).

The two formats which convert every face into two triangles are:

  • glTF (.glb)
  • STL (.stl)

If you don't use those formats or if that doesn't matter for you, that's fine.

But if you care, of course there is a solution: You have to convert all the triangles into quads. This is how you do it in the major 3D software:

  1. Autodesk 3ds Max: Under Geometry (All) choose Quadrify
  2. Autodesk Maya: Go to Mesh>Quadrangulate
  3. Cinema 4D: Under Optimize choose Untriangulate
  4. Blender: Go into edit mode, press Alt+J (or Face>Tris to Quads)

Also, the glTF 2.0 format creates some overlapping vertices, which can cause some issues. To solve it, do the following steps:

  1. Autodesk 3ds Max: This video should help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLQK-QUMww4&feature=emb_logo
  2. Autodesk Maya: Probably this could help: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-modeling/overlapping-vertices-please-help/td-p/7214712
  3. Cinema 4D: Go to Mesh>Commands>Optimize (See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSj1UpOS6uA)
  4. Blender: Go into edit mode, go to Mesh>Merge>By Distance (Sometimes you should experiment with the Merge Distance, which you can change if you press F9 directly after the merging)

We hope, that solves the problems. If that doesn't work for you, ask on software-specific forums for help, use another format or contact us at sorg3d@gmail.com.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

First Number: Low-resolution, Second number: Mid-resolution, Third number: High-resolution

  • Side cutter: 1,216 ; 1,972 ; 4,996 Vertices
  • Pipe wrench: 4,026 ; 16,092 ; 64,102 Vertices
  • Pincers: 951 ; 2,650 ; 9,564 Vertices
  • Combination pliers: 2,033 ; 2,453 ; 5,702 Vertices

In the Low-resolution, all 4 Pliers have 8,226 Vertices, equal to 16,247 Polygons.

In the Mid-resolution, all 4 Pliers have 23,167 Vertices, equal to 46,005 Polygons.

In the High-resolution, all 4 Pliers have 84,364 Vertices, equal to 168,149 Polygons.

FORMATS

The models are available in the Alembic, Collada, FBX, glTF 2.0, OBJ and STL Format.

USE AS Alembic, Collada, FBX, glTF, OBJ or STL

The resolution you should choose depends on the purpose of the pliers:

  1. Low resolution: If they are a background element
  2. Mid resolution: If they are somewhere in the foreground
  3. High resolution: If the Camera gets really close

USE IN BLENDER

You can use File>Append or File>Link and then navigate to the .blend-File with the pliers in it. Then click on Collection and choose your pliers.

To adjust the resolution or open and close the pliers, click on the Empty-object that belongs to the pliers and press 'N'. Then go to 'Item' and under 'Properties' you find the controlls.

If you want to remove the pliers, just delete it with X and under File>Clean Up choose Purge All a few times. That will make sure that the pliers are removed from Blenders memory.

WANT THE TEXTURES?

If you already purchased this product, but then decide that you want the version with the textures instead, of course you don't need to purchase the other product. If you just e-mail us, we will provide you with the textures for an extra charge of the remaining price (79$ - 39$).

Of course, if there are any problems, questions or additional wishes, you can contact us at sorg3d@gmail.com. We will reply as soon as possible!

Enjoy the product!
