DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

With this package you get a measuring stick in three materials: clean, used, and dirty, which means you could use it in many different environments.

CONTENT

You will find a 2-meter-long measuring stick in this set.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The measuring stick was modeled with a Quad-based technique, which means that it consists of Quads entirely!.

In the low resolution, the measuring stick has a total count of 440 Vertices, which is 840 Polygons.

In the mid resolution, the measuring stick has a total count of 888 Vertices, which is 1,736 Polygons.

In the high resolution, the measuring stick has a total count of 1,352 Vertices, which is 2,664 Polygons.

TEXTURES

The textures are generated with Substance Painter and provided in a 2K resolution of 2048 x 2048 px. The Base Color, Metallic, Roughness, and Displacement textures are between 0.018 and 6.4 MB each and the Normal Maps between 2.6 and 5.2 MB. All the textures together have a size of 28.4 MB and are only used where needed.

FORMATS

The Models are available in the Autodesk FBX and Blender Format.

USE AS FBX

If you use the measuring stick in the background, choose the low-resolution measuring stick and import it into your 3D-Software. Otherwise, if it is somewhere in the foreground, you should pick the mid-resolution one from the folder and import it. If the Camera gets in really close, choose the high-resolution measuring stick. In each case, the embedded textures should be recognized automatically.

If not, don't worry! We have included a PDF named Material_setup, there you find all the important information for recreating the materials in the PBR Metallic-Roughness Workflow.

USE IN BLENDER

If you want to import, change the resolution and open/close the measuring stick, just follow the tutorial on the Sorg3d YouTube Channel:

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal

No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
