DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

This package of 8 different drill bits is ready to use in your renders, animations, and games. Each drill bit comes with three materials: clean, used, and dirty. That means that you can use the drill bit in different environments, for example:

  1. In a factory (clean)
  2. In a workshop (used)
  3. In a very dirty environment or post-apocalyptic scenes (dirty)

CONTENT

The set contains the following drill bits (from left to right):

  • Forstner
  • Step drill
  • Masonry
  • Countersink
  • Auger
  • Twist
  • Twist long
  • Lip and spur

TECHNICAL DETAILS

As you can clearly see in the wireframe preview, the modeling of the drill bits is Quad-based and requires no retopology or remeshing!

First Number: Low resolution; Second Number: High resolution

  • Forstner: 711 - 2,824 Vertices
  • Step drill: 1,610 - 6,372 Vertices
  • Masonry: 3,680 - 14,644 Vertices
  • Countersink: 613 - 2,410 Vertices
  • Auger: 4,236 - 16,906 Vertices
  • Twist: 1,442 - 5,762 Vertices
  • Twist long: 1,728 - 6,842 Vertices
  • Lip and spur: 3,593 - 14,308

In the low resolution, all 24 drill bits have a total count of 52,839 Vertices, which is 105,420 Polygons.

In the high resolution, all 24 drill bits have a total count of 210,204 Vertices, which is 420,000 Polygons.

TEXTURES

The textures were exported from Substance Painter and are provided in a 2K resolution of 2048 x 2048 px. The Base Color, Metallic, Roughness and Displacement textures are between 0.5 and 1.5 MB each and the Normal Maps between 2.5 and 3 MB. All the textures are about 127 MB and only used where needed.

FORMATS

The Models are downloadable in the Autodesk FBX and Blender Format.

USE AS FBX

If you use the drill in the background, please choose the low resolution drill bit from their folder and import it into your 3D-Software.Otherwise, if it is a foreground element, you should choose the high resolution drill bit from the folder and import it. The embedded textures should be recognized automatically. If not, you can rebuild it with the Material_setup PDF, which is included with this product.

USE IN BLENDER

You can use File>Append or File>Link and then navigate to the .blend-File with all the drill bits in it. Then click on Collection and choose your drill bit.

To adjust the resolution, change the Viewport and Render Level of the Subdivision Surface Modifier in the Properties panel on the right.

If you want to remove the drill bit, just delete it with X and under File>Clean Up choose Purge All a few times. That will make sure that the drill and its textures are removed from Blenders memory.

SPECIAL OFFER

We provide an extra service for combining our products with custom elements, for example logos or changes to the model or its textures (for example 4K textures). If you are interested, please contact us at sorg3d@gmail.com and we will come back to you!

Of course, if there are any problems or additional wishes, you can contact us as well at sorg3d@gmail.com. We will reply as soon as possible!

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
