Design Philosophy: “Culture Camp House”Main Concept

The Culture Camp House draws inspiration from the spirit of camping culture a place where people gather, share stories, and live in harmony with nature combined with the timeless values of local traditions that emphasize togetherness, openness, and balance.

This house is not merely a living space, but a journey transitioning from public to private, from social interaction to personal reflection just like the spatial flow of a cultural campsite.

  1. Front Area “Camp Gate” (The Gateway of Togetherness)

The front section, starting from the carport and living room, acts as the social gateway of the house.

It symbolizes hospitality and openness, connecting the outside world with the home’s interior life.

The carport represents mobility and connection to society, while the adjacent living room functions as a campfire zone a space for sharing stories and strengthening bonds.

The open layout and easy access reflect the communal values of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and cultural warmth.

  1. Central Area “Living Core” (The Heart of Life)

The central zone consists of the family room, dining area, and kitchen the core of daily interaction.

This area embodies the spirit of community and togetherness, resembling the shared space at the heart of a campsite.

Warm tones, wooden textures, and natural materials evoke comfort and a sense of belonging.

The seamless spatial connection without rigid partitions symbolizes the open and harmonious relationships found in traditional living culture.

  1. Rear Area “Culture Retreat” (The Resting Sanctuary)

As one moves deeper into the house, the spaces become quieter and more personal consisting of bedrooms and a relaxation area.

This area represents reflection and tranquility, where one reconnects with nature and inner peace.

The direct access to the backyard garden enhances the sense of openness, daylight, and cross-ventilation reflecting harmony between human life and the natural environment.

It mirrors a camp tent at the edge of nature intimate, simple, and grounded.
