Philips B4X23A Vintage Radio
Process:All parts are built with combined 3d tools like Bryce, Vue and Daz Studio. Then I transferred all parts in OBJ and put the model together in Daz Studio.The textures are made in Photoshop and then transferred to all parts in Daz Studio. (Note: The model is not suitable for 3D printing)
About:The Philips B4X23A is a good example of a so-called plano radio. Unlike the rather square radio model common for decades, this model was flat and wide, with the speakers mounted on both sides of the set.
The plano radio fit on a bookcase shelf, which was ideal in an interior where the radio had to compete for space with the relatively large televisions of the time. Many of these models were produced, including by companies like Aristona and Siera. The Philips B5X62A, from 1956 and described elsewhere, is a good example of an early plano.
The B4X23A /01 and /54 models have an FM band of 87.5 to 104 MHz, while the B4X23A/74 model has a band of 87.5 to 108 MHz. The /74 is therefore the successor to the previously released models. The /74 was released after the /54 model, which covered the FM band up to 104 MHz.
The (future) limits of the FM broadcasting band had already been set at 87.5 and 108 MHz in the late 1940s. However, the entire band wasn't yet put into use: initially, the upper limit in the then-empty FM band was 100 MHz. The area above that, between 100 and 108 MHz, was (temporarily) used by other services. The upper limit was gradually shifted: first to 102 MHz, around 1962? to 104 MHz, and around 1964? to 108 MHz. (Note: the BX700A from 1950 covers the entire FM band up to 108 MHz.)
