She has been claimed by every Dark Power there is.None of Them will explain why. Neither will she. She is too busy revving.
Cultist Chan arrived at the faith the way most people arrive at a moving vehicle: without a plan, and at speed. No armor. No training. No rank that any officer will admit to issuing. What she has is a chain-blade she needs both hands, a running start and a considerable amount of screaming to lift over her head, and she lifts it over her head constantly. Before the charge. During the charge. Occasionally three hours before the charge, facing the wrong way, while the command staff are still arguing about the map.
Then there is the icon. The spiked star strapped across her back is wider than she is and hung with enough chain to moor a gunship. Nobody assigned it to her. She picked it up during a rout and carried it out of the smoke grinning, and in all the years since, no one has been brave enough to be the person who takes it away from her. It makes her the most obvious target on any battlefield. It also means enemy marksmen spend the opening minutes of every engagement tracking a shrieking blur that has never once, in her entire life, stood still.
The marks are the genuine theological problem. All of Them signed her. Every single one. The war-priests have been arguing about it since the third crusade: one insists it is prophecy, one insists it is a filing error somewhere in the Beyond, and one maintains that she simply turned up to every ritual uninvited for eleven years until the Powers stopped trying to remove her. The third theory has the most followers, largely because it also explains the snacks.
And then there is the smell. Nobody has ever accounted for the smell. It is warm. It is savory. It arrives before she does, and it has broken more than one siege from the inside, because there is a specific and terrible moment when a trench veteran on half rations realizes he is hungry, then realizes why, and then has to sit down for a while. She has never commented on this. There is a real chance she does not know.
She will not win you a game. That was never the offer. She is the model your opponent points at halfway through deployment and says wait, is that - and then loses the rest of the turn.
Cultist Chan Chainripper is available now, standing 50 mm tall on a 32 mm round base, with the head, the chain-blade arm and the back icon supplied as separate parts.
All glory to the Dark Powers. All of Them. She checked.
