Saint Nerona Imu is the King of the World (世界の王, Sekai no Ō?) who occupies the Empty Throne, giving him sole authority over the World Government. One of the First Twenty responsible for the creation of the World Government and the only one alive today, his status has been kept an absolute secret from the world at large for over 800 years since the Void Century.

With the ambition of finally bringing the Great War to a decisive conclusion, Imu directed his subordinates the Five Elders to procure Dr. Vegapunk's invention, the Mother Flame, and ordered the Knights of God to annex Elbaph in an invasion that he eventually personally participated in.

Imu first appeared during the Levely Arc. Due to his status and actions, he is the main antagonist of the Elbaph Arc, an overarching antagonist in the Egghead Arc, and one of the primary overarching antagonists of the Final Saga and the One Piece series as a whole.
