The history of the light bulb is a story of gradual innovation, spanning centuries. It began with Humphry Davy's electric arc light in 1800. In the mid-1800s, inventors like Frederick de Moleyns and Heinrich Göbel explored using carbon filaments, but it was Thomas Edison who, in 1879, developed the first practical incandescent bulb with a carbon filament and a vacuum, leading to the widespread use of electric lighting.

Edison’s improvements were crucial for the creation of the first commercial electric lighting systems in the 1880s. Over time, the development of the tungsten filament in 1904, the rise of fluorescent lamps in the 1920s, and the LED revolution in the late 20th century made light bulbs more efficient and long-lasting.
