Indian Elephant - Realistic ZBrush Sculpt
This project is a high-detail realistic 3D sculpt of an Indian/Asian elephant created in ZBrush, developed with a strong focus on anatomical accuracy, realistic proportions, organic forms, and production-quality skin detailing.
The elephant was sculpted through multiple Levels of Detail (LOD) and subdivision levels in ZBrush. The model maintains its overall silhouette and anatomical structure at lower subdivision levels while progressively adding secondary and tertiary details at higher levels. The complete sculpting workflow covers the model from the initial base mesh and primary forms to the final high-resolution sculpt with detailed elephant skin.
SCULPTING AND LOD WORKFLOW
The model was developed progressively through different subdivision levels:
LOW LOD / PRIMARY FORMSThe initial stage focuses on the overall elephant anatomy, proportions, silhouette, head shape, trunk, ears, tusks, body mass, legs, feet, and tail.
MID LOD / SECONDARY FORMSSecondary anatomical forms were developed across the head, neck, shoulders, chest, abdomen, hips, legs, joints, ears, and facial structure. Muscle and fat distribution were refined to create a natural and believable elephant anatomy.
HIGH LOD / TERTIARY DETAILSThe highest subdivision levels contain detailed skin sculpting, including wrinkles, folds, creases, facial details, trunk wrinkles, ear deformation, joint folds, skin compression, foot details, and surface breakup.
ALL ZBRUSH SUBDIVISION LEVELSThe ZBrush file contains the complete sculpting workflow across multiple subdivision levels, allowing the user to access the different stages of the model from the base form to the final high-resolution sculpt.
ANATOMICAL DETAILS
The model includes detailed elephant anatomy such as:
- Domed forehead and detailed head structure
- Detailed eyes and surrounding facial folds
- Large folded ears
- Long textured trunk
- Curved tusks
- Heavy neck and throat folds
- Large shoulder and chest structure
- Detailed abdomen and belly folds
- Thick front and rear legs
- Anatomically defined joints
- Detailed elephant feet and toenails
- Hip and rear-body anatomy
- Detailed tail and tail tuft
- Natural skin wrinkles and folds across the entire body
SKIN SCULPTING
A major focus of this project was creating realistic elephant skin. Different wrinkle patterns were sculpted according to the anatomical structure of each body area instead of using a repetitive surface pattern.
The trunk features dense horizontal wrinkles, while the forehead, cheeks, neck, shoulders, abdomen, legs, knees, ankles, and hips contain different wrinkle directions and fold patterns. Additional skin compression and deformation were sculpted around the eyes, ears, neck, joints, and other areas where natural skin folds occur.
The final high-resolution sculpt contains extensive tertiary skin detailing designed to create a realistic and production-quality elephant surface.

The model is provided with multiple ZBrush subdivision levels, making it useful for high-resolution sculpting, retopology, texture baking, displacement workflows, VFX, animation, cinematics, games, and realistic creature production.
PRODUCTION USE
This elephant sculpt can be used as a base for VFX and film production, animation, cinematics, creature design, game development, realistic animal modeling, texturing, displacement, and further character development.
The project is presented with multiple camera angles to showcase the anatomy, silhouette, sculpting quality, and detailed skin work across the complete elephant model.
