US F4U Corsair Fighter Aircraft

US F4U Corsair Fighter Aircraft Free 3D print model

Description

1/900th scale F4U Corsair Fighter model. Certain elements not to scale.

The F4U Corsair was developed as a carrier-borne fighter, but it was not ideal for carrier landings, so the role was filled by the F6F Hellcat. Instead, the F4U was used in much greater numbers as a land-based fighter-bomber. It remained in service through 1953 with the US Military and continued service in other countries through 1979. It saw the longest production run of any single-engine piston engine US fighter.

This model is designed and tested at 1/900th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/900th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The model has been enlarged along the z axis to allow for better printing and accentuation of detail. The model has also been given thicker elements for strength. The wingspan and overall length are to scale.
