Is Cloud Desktop worth for 3D artists?

Discussion started by nepomuk

Hello Crazy artist friends. I have been postponing a gear upgrade for obviou$$ rea$onS, but I have lately stumbled on some cloud Desktop wonders like RENDERRO or even the acclaimed AWS.

The "simple" question is: since I am a Hobbyist, I tend to use the full capacity of my computer 2 to 3 times a month. That really does not justify buying a new expensive machine just for the hobby's sake. However, I could rent a virtual Desktop with 32GB ram and T4 GPU for 2$ a day.

Have anyone used Cloud Desktop for the "FULL WORK"( Modelling, shading animating, and rendering)?? Is it really fast and worth it?

I know that render farms are very popular, especially for high-end productions. But I would like to know if virtual desktops are suitable fast for the full workflow, including modeling, visualization, and full 3D creation experience (Blender, Unity, Unreal, and so on).

All that said, if virtual desks are so versatile it means I could really play games on them?

My current computer is an i3-8700U with 20GB ram and no GPU.

Do you have projects that require 32GB of RAM and a Tesla graphic card?

I don't know any examples of someone from beginners, as well as from professional artists using cloud services.

For a beginner or a user for whom 3d is just a hobby, this is absolutely not necessary due to a number of different reasons.

In my opinion, this is a very situational and highly specialized thing, the same, for example, as an interactive display instead of a classic graphics tablet.

Yes, from a future perspective. Cloud Desktops for 3D artists can be beneficial when designers need to travel worldwide and use many different types of software and tools.
