Are coupons working for you?

Any of you that are using or used coupons lately,
are there any quirks or settings that should be used in order to make them work?
I'm asking, because I had generated a coupon for a customer, but he was unable to use it.
He was getting the following error:
Sorry, coupon discount can't be applied on some (or all) of the models in your cart due to seller discount settings.
I can't see any settings that may have a connection with this error.
Any ideas?

I didn't want to have 'price offer' option available and just give coupons on some special cases, but had to turn it on as workaround for this problem. I had generated some coupons as thanks for my first customers here, but funny thing is, none of them replied or used them.. Go figure..
I don't think you should be surprised by that. Coupons doesn't work that way. If customer does not need your model, it's likely that he won't buy it, even if heavily discounted.
