Pissed off!

Discussion started by sxigast

Long story short:

I bought and product and was REALLY unsatisfied with it.

It was completely broken and I was unable to fix it, and therefore I requested a refund.

Luckily CGTrader promised me a refund but guess what? - three weeks later and I still haven’t received the refund!

They told me the problem was on my banks end, so I contacted my bank who told me that they haven’t received a single penny from CGT. BTW - I’m a customer of the largest bank in Sweden and they wouldn’t ”steal” my money.

Let me know your thoughts and have a great day.

were you able to open the product in its native format? I've helped some people who struggled because they were importing into a program that was able to import certain formats in theory. Theres so many programs and formats, its tricky to know whether it will work without being able to test every single one, i.e I often use Deep explorer to view different formats but that doesn't guarantee something like C4D or Blender will cope with something exported from 3ds max

"were you able to open the product in its native format?" - Unfortunately not... However I tried open it in .FBX, .3DS, .OBJ + .MTL and .STL format and everything was COMPLETELY broken in all of these formats which is very unusual.

Also, CGT have removed the product from my "Purchases"-page. This means that I don't "own" the product and still have paid for it...

did u ever speak with the designer? I once uploaded a model that ended up broken in all formats. I never fully understood why it happened but i suspect that there may have been a problem during upload... like a weak net connection or something. anyway i uploaded it again and there was no more problem with it since

Hi Filip,

Have you tried contacting support team again via live chat of by info@cgtrader.com?

I'm sure that stating the facts and giving back feedback from the bank will help solve this case. We really have no interest in keeping money that needs to be refunded.:)

Sorry for the inconveniences though!

Eddie, CGTrader

This is really strange... If your report you are not happy with a product to Eduardas or any of the other awesome people I have worked with on CGT you get an instant refund or they get the artist to fix your model or convert it to the format you are able to use.

They helped me more than once, like when I bought a ring a while back and it was not in stl... so my printer couldn't use it for printing and I asked for help. In less then 24 hours I had a new file that worked properly.

I also had a problem with another print but I contacted the artist who was super awesome and explained what to do to get the best out of the model and it worked out great after that.

I have a feeling that now that Eduardas is on it that this will get resolved! I guarantee there was some misunderstanding. Things will work out :)

Hi again Fillip,

Our refunds are issued through Braintree system: Braintree immediately sends a void request to the customer's bank when a Gateway Rejection occurs, preventing the transfer of funds. These voids are sometimes not immediately recognized by banks, so customers may see pending charges on their statement until the void is processed or the authorization naturally falls off.

It is possible that your bank haven't recognized the void during the time you contacted them. Your refund funds should definitely reach you, since the refund was issued from our side. :)

Hopefully the funds reach you soon so we can progress without any bad blood!

Regards,
Eddie, CGTrader

Voided orders always take longer than regular refunds, ergo the long waiting time.

I don't understand why nobody try to contact the artist first.
He knows best if it's a handling failure or if there is something really broken.
He can help you fix your problem or fix the broken model.

I had someone too who gave me a negative rating cause he needed a different texture format.
As I contacted him I send him what he need in a few minutes and he was happy.
So I received a positive rating.

The bad thing was, perhaps this rating shoked some customers that would have buy a model in meantime.
So please , try first contact the artist first before you rate negative or talk to the awesome cgtrader support cause then the support needs to spend time that they don't need to spend .

A other scenario was a customer who had problem with a rigg for a different Engine. He contacted me and I created a new rigg for him so that he can use the char for his Engine.
He contacted me first and was very happy at the end.

I had got a free model off another website, it was what you could call broken when trying to import into max, I think it was made in Maya, luckly I was able to convert it to 3ds in deep exploration so sometimes a third party import/export tool is required to translate the data, i know CGT has some sort of conversion tool that might work even just to resave to the same format. In a perfect world everything would perfectly export and import between programs. Though saying that, the product seller might be trying to pull a fast one, but CGT should be able to confirm that by looking at the file themselves?

For the rest of us modelers can you explain what you mean by "broken?" I'm not exactly clear on what you felt was wrong with the model and if you can tell us it may help the rest of us in creating higher quality models and/or at the very least avoid similar mistakes. I would hate to think that someone was "pissed off" after buying one of my models and I don't want to make the same mistake. Thanks in advance :)

Basically everything: 1 - Some of the textures weren’t included 2 - Mesh layers wasn’t organized or properly named at all (which made me unable to re-apply the textures!) 3 - The layers lumped togheter when importing (all formats!) 4 - He told me it was real world scale but it wasn’t (it was something like 100 times bigger than real world scale!) Since I no longer have the file available on my computer I’m unable to send you the model or any screenshots. I sincerely apologize for my bad english, but I hope you understand me anyway.

Good idea! Tell us what was broken, chances are someone may be able to help you fix it even if the designer can't.

That's a cool project! Hey Filipaaofficial! What kind of model was it you bought? Do you have a link to the exact model you bought? Also if I happen to have a similar model among my models I would be happy to give you a freebie from my models... not sure I have what you are looking for because I do not know what you bought... Just let me know. If I have something similar you can have it.

Thank you marvimation! I don't want to link to the model since I don't want to hurt his reputation. However it was an iPhone model. I bought another one that worked perfectly, but thank you anyway! I really appreciate your generous offer. Have a great day!

filipaaofficial, thanks for bringing these things to the attention of all of us modelers. Definitely all things we should check for, beginner or pro and always good to get solid info on what the consumer wants. Glad to hear that you were able to get a good result from another artist. Also classy that you chose not to link to the artist that let you down, respectable. And not to worry, your English is great man! Take care.
