Changes on CGT

Discussion started by 3dcruz

I'm new to this, but immediately became disappointed by the changes. Cut percent, then the opportunity to move. the promise is that all compensated for by promotion of sales.

This month the income exceeds the income on the TS. I was pleasantly surprised. What can you say about this?

Something really changed, or I've coincidentally?

I got more customers that's for sure. I think CGT must be doing something to attract more paying buyers and pushing away free loaders! I think it is working really well!

I think it's too early to draw conclusions, but i noticed increase in sales too. Might be just random fluctuation though. Will see by the end of the year. Hopes are high :]

I also observed this, and not only on CGT. But generally the sales volume increases from year-end and start to decline around May-June

Even I have made my first sale :)

I am really hoping that from here on forward this will be the trend. I mean steady sales. I have been saying this for a long time ... I would prefer to earn a little less per each model but sell on a weekly basis than sell a really expensive model once every 5 or six months. Selling on a regular basis is what motivates artists to really raise the quality of their models and strive for improvement. When you sell something every so often and in an unpredictable way it kind of de motivates you and keeps you guessing about which models you made are good and which ones are not.

Totally agree. I started with a low price, and received a permanent sale. But I can't imagine at what price are ready to buy. And wait, will be whether to buy is also not an option. But I would like to sell, and expensive models. Just can not imagine that you can sell high.

I believe this could also be depending on the demand for the specific models. If you sell something only a few people need once in a while, you will only sell every few months even though your model is of high quality. Knowing what is needed is the key. But we all know that's not that easy to find out.

In general I sell in the range of 10 to 55 dollars. Some people who have top quality models and personal clients can sell models at 500 or more. When I make a sale I get more money so I can upgrade my models and hire a really good group of artists to help me. I get annoyed when people insult my models and tell me that they suck because ultimately they are insulting all of my friends who have worked so hard over the years to create them.

Back in the day when I was working at TS I had even more models but those sneaky people stole them from me. I was only able to upload the ones I had backed up onto CGT only about 100 out of almost 150 that I had. That's why I always warn people about uploading their models to Turbo Squid. It is a big gamble that you are taking. If you read their contract which I didn't because I was young and naive when I started they can close your account and legally steal all of your models without warning.

They can even leak your personal designs to companies and make a profit from your designs without letting you know so long as you did not patent your concept with the proper authorities.

Sorry if I offended you. I mean, I don't know what the model should be to sell high? not your model. difficulties with the English language. I sells cheap. best 18$

When I started I had no idea how much to sell my models for. I think it's safe to search amongst CGT and find similar styled & quality assets and follow a trend of price others are following. I went one step further and noticed companies I'm primary competing with on a quality basis, actually double their prices on CGT compared to their personal sites. So by going in at 75% of their price I get a reasonable steady flow of customer of a handful a month and still make more per model than others.

I agree, it's probably too early to draw conclusions. So far my sales are the same, but then I don't have many models for sale yet.

You are right! What buyers really want is the best kept secret!

even more interesting, what criteria they choose from the whole range.

Lehninger 3D your models are really cool! Especially the ones you modified and made your own like your police cars or modified racers!

Sales started peaking from February to July 2016, surpassing my Ts sales at times, now it's a bit lower but still better than 9 months ago, during this time average sales on CGt has steadily grown for me.

Things are looking very good.

It puzzles me though that people still keep buying my models on Ts, which are in many cases more than twice as expensive as over here.

I cannot comprehend people would just be ignorant when things are just an image drop or few keywords away (same keywords), finding out if a given item (maybe for less money) is present on the net is supper easy right?

If someone has good theory about this puzzling thing then let me know, I'm eager to learn.
Maybe Ts just throws in extra models (on request of client) for free (using the 60% cut of a given seller to pay another seller or something)?

I know it happens occasionally that Ts contacts a seller (happened to me few times) letting them know they are going to give one of their models away but compensate on their behalves (with argument that some customer asked for a refund but was happy to be compensated with the selected model).

I wonder on how large scale would this sort of thing really going on because this month again two of my items were purchased by Ts (can't know for sure but assume it because no info of a country is listed).

If this happens on substantial scale then we pay for massive discounting system and fraud protection for the exclusive sellers (hens explanation for why this service must be so freaking expensive).

Whatever they doing its just supper expensive and service/product delivered is bad.
I'm very glad CGt is around to change this.

I started expanding my library about two months ago. I have doubled the number of models and the income increased almost 4 times. It might be because the quality gets better or maybe I just get more views. But I do think that cgtrader's promotional policy is taking effect. Keep it up!

Yes I would agree that the quality, number, visibility and presentation of the models really makes a big difference.
