CGTrader updates - August

Discussion started by eduardas

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to mention a few of the latest updates in CGTrader some may have missed:

3D Jobs:

  • We've redone the VAT calculation system just as we previously did on 3D models - VAT will not be counted from designer's royalties anymore - every VAT payments for jobs created after July 21st will covered by customers. Only payment processing fee and 5% royalty cut that goes to CGT will be counted from designer's payment.

  • Job previews are now public - guest users will also be able to view 3D jobs provided by customers.

  • Minimum Job offer price limit increased to $50. Custom/private and jobs created using hire me will still have lower minimum since there are minor fixes for models, smaller updates that customers can negotiate with designers.

Username changes:

  • Registered users can change their usernames by going to their account settings and click on change username tab. We've limited the username change amount to avoid possible clutter of these changes and to prevent people from exploiting the feature.

Emailing system updates:

  • We've recently started using a new email provider, so you should receive emails that are a bit better looking and more convenient. You can also see the updated settings for newsletters you want to receive in your account settings under notification settings to choose what you want to receive, and what not to.

Textures Category:

  • We've added the Textures in our list of categories. Since there are a number of texture sellers, it will be easier to sell your assets by separating them from other (or various) categories.

These are a few noticeable updates that can change how you use CGTrader platform, and may come in handy for your works. Hope you guys have a great month selling 3D models - and let me know if you have any questions or notes you want to share!

Best regards,
Eddie, CGTrader team

Hi Dust,

We definitely haven't forgot about the payoneer requests and we have it in our plans to integrate this system. I can't guarantee everything in life, but if I was a betting man, I would say that it does make sense.

Does it make sense to wait for the "payoneer" system connection?

I would like it if there weren't any possible workaround for the "Minimum Job offer price limit", I mean from the designer's side. I think that the $50 minimun is a step forward, so seeing a job offer like the called "Vehicle" posted today, where is stated at the end: "Who offer a lowest price I chose him. (Optimal $20)", is a bit disappointing. I personally want no room for this kind of abusive behaviours in the jobs section, so I hope the $50 limit will apply to the designer's applications as well. For now, it's not the case, as any designer is able to set his/her offer as low as $0.01.

I doubt if that would change much. Such cheapskates would start using CGT as designers finder platform and would take communication and payment business to personal space. So those poor fellas who applies to offensive $20 job offers, would simply loose cgtrader's protection.

Hi,
I have a question regarding account settings. How can we make languages that we know visible on our public profiles?
Thanks in advance

Hi there, I have to say that at the moment we don't have this functionality.

In the mean time, you could just write that in the text description of your profile.

Hi, Do you specifically mean gallery photos, or are we talking about 3D model preview images?

@eduardas
3D model preview images

Uh oh, really bad idea. Why would you want that? Changing aspect ratio of thumbnails should have very serious reason, as such move would negatively affect all previously uploaded product previews.

I think i know answer. I went to your profile and see that all your images are square. So you're being lazy to properly prepare images, decided rather to ask to change marketplace standards to fit your needs. Did you think that this would badly punish all those guys who takes care to properly publish their models? Or you don't even care?

Relax. I didn't tell that they need to change something. I just asked about square images, please read again my post.
And it's rude to call me lazy and egoist who thinks only about myself, only because you don't have square images. And you are afraid of that.
PS: not only my images is square. I think products with square images more.

You can try to cover your intentions, i don't care, just don't try to put your words to my mouth. Yes, i don't have square images. Want to know why? Because i take care to publish my models as best as i can, if marketplace has 4:3 aspect thumbnails, i just make them to fit without cropping instead of going to forum and asking to change something that would fit only me. And if you'd go to turbosquid and search for my profile, you would see that all my thumbnails there are of square format. So yeah, you can relax yourself.
