3D Models for used in Blender

Discussion started by murphtwoo

Hello. Many of the 3D rigged and animated models on cgtrader seem to be made in Maya. I notice when using the FBX files in blender, where each file has a different animation, there is a problem. Each FBX animation armature uses a different rest position. This causes the mesh animation in blender to be altered and will not allow the mesh to align properly. The Rest Position can be reset to be the same in either Maya or Unreal Engine. Does anyone know how this is done? I do not use either Maya or Unreal Engine so I need help. I do have Unreal Engine I could use if the solution is easy enough.

Not sure if I know exactly what you mean here, but a quick search on Google brought this up...

How to Set/Reset in Unreal Engine:
Using Control Rig:
In the Control Rig editor, select all controls (Ctrl+A).
Press Ctrl+G or type 0,0,0 for translation and 0,0,0 for rotation and scale in the Details panel to reset them to default.

I do not know how to use Unreal Engine File well enough for this. I cannot even figure out how to import the FBX file into Unreal Engine properly.
