It's interesting how different aspects of a game have so much effect on experience and emotions. Let's take weapons, for example. When a character draws his massive sword engraved with golden and crystal ornaments and swings it with all his might so that fire particles spread through the air making enemies tremble in fear, for most of us, the first thought would be "I want that sword". So here is the challenge to get it - Fantasy Game Weapons Challenge!
Here are some ground rules:
Winners will be chosen for the Best Melee Weapon and Best Ranged Weapon models - each category will have a winner and a runner-up. Models must be Low Poly (Up to 50,000 Polygons). There will be two winners for the Best Weapon Portfolio as well.
Design rules are simple: models should be designed as fantasy game weapons, in other words - non-traditional, magical or defying physics. Melee weapons can range from ancient type pikes or swords to a more futuristic like Energy Blades or Plasma Swords. Ranged weapons have the same freedom: from bows that can spawn energy arrows to guns that can shoot porcelain gnomes. Mage staffs are also viable and will be counted as ranged weapons.
Our sponsors will have some rewards for completing our quest: subscriptions from Textures.com, licenses from VD-3D, licenses from Cheetah3D, Subscriptions from GameTextures.com, Gift Cards from Daz3D, products from Nevercenter and render fees from GarageFarm.NET.
For you, as modern smiths, the quest is to "forge" the best weapons to fight the forces of evil. The Empire trusts you and wishes you good luck in your endeavor!

Take war where it can‘t hurt anyone – take it to Virtual Reality with our VR Military Challenge!
There are no categories in this challenge: soldiers, tanks, giant mecha, rocket launchers – anything goes. As long as it is a low-poly (no more than 50,000 polygons) model ready for endless VR conflict, it‘s good to go.
The challenge runs from 14th of March, 2016, to the 30th of May, 2016. There will be one winner and two runner-ups for Best Model award. One winner and one runner-up will be rewarded for Best Portfolio (at least 8 eligible models entered in the contest), too.
But what’s in the loot back? Well, we have computer-bound brighter3d Pro SketchUp Plug-in licenses, AC3D modeling software, rigging software licenses The Setup Machine For Games, Milkshape3D licenses, digital copies (with 5Gb of models) of Animation: Master and Time-Lapse skies (one for best model winner and one for best portfolio) from Hyperfocal Design. Now that is a haul worthy of the mightiest conquest!
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to get practical with 3D printed kitchen accessories challenge. If it can be 3D printed and used in the kitchen, it is welcome in the challenge.
The contest will run from the 23rd of March, 2016, to the 23rd of May, 2016. Only entries submitted during this time count. You can upload as many entries as you want, and anyone who uploads 5 - yes, five - or more is eligible for portfolio contest.
There will be 3 winners - a first place winner and two runner-ups - in the model category, and a first place winner plus a runner-up in portfolio.
We're teaming up with the innovative filament makers at Formfutura for this competition - all winners will get various and freshly made filament spools from Formutura, as well as some swag from CGTrader. First place winners will get 2 spools of awesome new translucent HDglass Filament, one spool of EasyWood Filament (looks and smells like wood, because it is 40% wood) and a spool of CarbonFil (HD glass reinforced with long carbon fibers) Filament. The runner-ups will get one spool of EasyWood and HDglass filament each.
It's been a while since we've had our last Low Poly Challenge - this of course means, that it is time for another one!
Since we're getting used to challenges with a bit more detailed requirements, let's set some ground rules for this one:
Winners will be chosen for Best Character and Best Environment models - each category will have a winner and a runner-up. Models must be Low Poly (Up to 50,000 Polygons). There will be two winners for the Best Portfolio as well.
We have quite a few sponsors for this challenge - the prizes include Render fees by FoxRenderfarm, Quixel Suite licenses, ShaderMap licenses, Texture kits by Greyscalegorilla, BonyFace 3.2 Animation systems, Topogun licenses and full versions of Pixplant 3 by PixPlant.

We love nature and that includes the Third Dimensional one. That's why we can't have too many of nature-themed challenges!
Oh, since it's fun to keep trying the new things for the challenges, we're having this one a bit modified - naming three different categories for the competition - Animals, Plants and Environment. Choose the one that fits you best, put your ideas to the 3D, render them and create a memorable and worthy winner!
We're teaming up with FoxRenderfarm (Rendering fees), Exlevel (GrowFX Licenses), 3DCoat (Professional Licenses), Video Copilot (3D Shader Bundles), Dosch Design (Tree Libraries) and CGCookie (Memberships) to bring you the prizes worth fighting for!
