KMS Nuernberg - Model for small scale printing

KMS Nuernberg - Model for small scale printing 3D print model

Description

Nürnberg was a light cruiser of the Leipzig-class built by the Reichsmarine prior to WW2, serving under the flag of the Kriegsmarine until the end of the war.

The Leipzig-class wasnt the first class of light cruisers built by Germany after WW1, it was rather a upgraded variant of the already proven Königsberg-class. The main armament was the same, however the ships were bigger than the previous class, exceeding the limits posed onto Germany by several treaties. When the war arrived Nürnberg was sent onto duty as a minelayer and as a training ship, conducting several missions in the baltic sea. She was sent to a short mission in Norway but resumed training and minelaying not long after. When the war came to an end she was forced into harbour due to lack of fuel and got seized by the allies.

After the war she went to the Soviet Union as a war prize, being renamed Admiral Makarov. There she served until the 1960s where she was then sold for scrap and broken up. Apart from the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, she was the only operational big surface unit which survived the war.

Note: This model is recommended to be used in the 1/4000 scale. The model itself isnt scaled, the scale table is down below.

1/4000: 4,6cm or 1.81in

1/3000: 6cm or 2.36in

1/2000: 9cm or 3.54in (not recommended)

For self calculation: The Nürnberg is 181m or 593.8 feet long

The model is intended to be used with little supports as possible, yet some are recommended below the barrels on the main and secondary guns. Pay special attention to the long main mast above the bridge, the high weight can easily snap the thin mast itself if handled without care.
