DESCRIPTION

Introducing Xsens Mannequin, the ultimate ready-to-use IK retargeting rig for Unreal Engine. This innovative asset allows you to effortlessly retarget motion capture data to both human and metahuman characters. With its powerful ready-to-use IK retargeting technology, Xsens Mannequin makes it simple to transfer animations between characters of different sizes and proportions, including metahumans, without the need for customization. Its seamless integration with Unreal Engine and advanced rigging technology ensure that your animations will look believable and realistic, no matter what type of character you're animating. Elevate your virtual production and bring your metahuman characters to life with Xsens Mannequin.

  • Compatible with Unreal Engine 5.1
  • This project contains all the files required to easily retarget your mocap recordings using an improved version of the MVN Puppet.
  • It is a complete project with all the rigs and retargeting assets set up and ready to go. Alternatively, just drop the provided content folder in your project to add the XSENS Mannequin to your projects.
  • This project is intended as a tool for anyone who uses mocap and metahumans and custom characters that use the UE5 Manny Skeleton.

The Mannequin is in the default Unreal Engine Open A pose, so no more needing to straighten out joints in poses or anything like that. Just import your recording and retarget as usual.

Hi! Just a huge thanks for this helpful project! I want to ask for help. Somehow metahuman target mesh looks incorrect, arms still be in 90 degrees (looks like they freeze on a-pose), not straight. Have any idea how to fix that?

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
