For Russian and Belarusian Freelancers

Discussion started by jedi3d

Hello everyone. First of all I know clearly what happens on Ukraine now: this is War started by crazy old bastard mr. putin. Kids are dying, womans are dying, civilians are dying, soldiers are dying and people doesn't know will they wake up next day or not.

Not everyone of us will support my reasoning, yes, because propaganda if VERY powerful: for example I can't speak with my mom anymore, she is a zombie, no arguments are working, many friends are not my friends anymore.

At the same time, it must be admitted that sanctions like banning art-industry people, 3d designers, 2d designers, musicians, language teachers and programmers (hello UpWork):

DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITH POWER OF DICTATORS

It only hits people who works hard just trying to live in this world. Many of them are woman, they have kids too. For many of them this is the only source of income. If we talking about taxes for government I think it would be less that 0.000001%.

Oil and gas are keep going. Nobody closes sky above Ukraine. Miami mostly belongs to russian deputies, businessmans, oligarchs - have you heard somebody in US gov even mentioned that?

You need us go to the streets? Well you may watch on youtube how Belarus protest looks like now: police beaten even womans and old people, journalists. You can go to the jail for your opinion in Russia now.

You need us to move out from our countries? But we have no income now and all prices are grown up twice.

Three countries: Ukraine, Belarus and Russia suffer from two crazy old dictators. And you spit on their victims.

It seems like our fault for being born in Russia and Belarus. Is it so, cgtrader?

Decision of banning freelancers of Russia and Belarus based at no laws, no government directions - that was only CGTrader CEO's decision.

And we need to discuss about that.

Here is UpWork link to pretty similar thread:

*ATTENTION* For those who will prefer re-translate here russian propaganda about "8 years", "nazis in Ukraine" and other bullsh*t - think TWICE before. I will ask moderators ban you forever and I think adequate people will support me.
Any judgement has long consisted of hearing BOTH sides and then decision comes.
You have internet now so go and listen Ukrainian side. Otherwise, you are accomplices of regime of putin.

I think that these measures only fuel an atmosphere of hatred and resentment, causing only new sorrows.
It hit ordinary people directly, by preventing them to make a living. CGTrader are hurting civilians and not corporations, oligarchs or politicians.
Just discrimination a small amount of creative people, 3D graphics enthusiasts, modelers and designers, which have no effect on geopolitics.

Jedi3d,
My heart goes out to you and anyone else in Russia and Belarus (+ other countries) who have been subjugated under the Russian boot and who look beyond the Russian government propaganda to see what is really going on in Ukraine. In war, it is always the citizens who suffer the most. To a much lesser degree, the bans have affected economies and the lives of citizens worldwide. For what? One insane dictator who wants to stamp the democracy and freedom from a peaceful nation that the Russians think should be a province of Russia and go back to the "good times" of the Cold War where Russia and the Soviet Union were feared.
I know there is propaganda on both sides. A popular quote, is "the first casualty of war, is the truth". So everyone has to look beyond one point of view.
I'm glad you are against the war, however, many of your countrymen, and compatriots are very pro-Putin. The blog posts in https://www.cgtrader.com/blog/cgtrader-suspends-services-in-russia-and-belarus-in-support-of-ukraine are clearly weighted with pro-Putin comments, so it shows that feelings run deep.
Any post, which is against the war always gets more dislikes than likes, which also shows you the support of Russian aggression on this website. So I'm in support of this website's policy because it shows that CGTrader stands with the free world to support Ukraine, even though CGTrader will be taking a financial hit as well.
War is abhorrent. Japan finally surrendered in 1945 after the second nuclear bomb was dropped on their nation, not the first. With tensions so high, Russians and their supporters should really ask themselves, if Putin's action are really necessary? Would risking nuclear war, and not only eliminating this website, any economy with gaming, advertising and 3d printing, but civilized life on this planet, really be necessary? Putin's actions in Crimea and now Ukraine show many parallels to Adolf Hitler's invasion of Poland in 1939. In the end, that didn't work out to well for Germany, did it?
I really don't care how many "dislikes" or "irrelevant" clicks I get on here. I'm not hear to be popular. I too want things to go back to normal and keep selling 3D models. Everyone on this planet has been through enough the past 2 years with Covid-19 and we still managed to survive. Just when there is a glimmer of hope, we get this. We should be celebrating by coming out stronger not waging war.
Jedi3d, if you have another way to stop this tyrant, please share.
Take care of yourself and your family.

You've spread a lot of demagogy here. I will answer about my pro-Putin compatriots. What to expect when a nation is discriminated against? Of course they will consolidate with their leader more since they are being hated by everyone else, even if they were against him. It's like kicking person in the head, and when he gets angry you say: "See how angry he is, he deserves to be kicked."

I'm not certain how you expect people in Europe and the Americas to feel when a leader of of a country attacks a democratic nation without provocation. Putin in 2018 gained over 75 percent of the votes. By reading comments in the blog, I would say that support for Putin here, is or was very close to that percentage. But I do feel sorry for the people in Russia who were brave enough to stand up to the government to protest the invasion but were arrested.

I'm not sure that you know the whole essence of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. You divide this situation into black and white, believing that Ukraine is good and Russia is bad, but everything is not so simple. You only pick up information that lies on the surface, which is spreaded and escalated by anti-Russian propaganda. As you said propaganda is on both side. I don't think CGtrader should be involved in this issue and has the right to discriminate ordinary people by they nationality or territory.

I just know that many different factors led to these consequences. Your head will hurt if you try to analyze all the relationships and conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, including NATO and EU. There were many problems of international diplomacy, not just "evil Russians want to kill everyone", but of course it's easier to blame everything on these evil Russians, trusting what the media says, instead of analyzing the facts by yourself. This is all dirty politics that has nothing to do with the artists community.

"evil Russians want to kill everyone".......Russians soldiers are killing hundreds of innocent people a day. 2 and half million refuges (and rising fast) all because of a revanchist despot! Having sanctions is better than the threat of a nuclear stand off between the East and West where there is going to be no winners at all!

The US has intervened in the affairs of 50 countries over 130 times

this is the favorites that can be found — 1967 - when the Americans saw that George Popandreous, who they disliked, could win the elections in Greece, they supported a military coup that plunged the country into terror for six years.

— 1971 - 1973 - the bombing of Laos. More bombs were dropped on this country than on Nazi Germany.

- 1973 - Uruguay. American military assistance in the coup that led to total terror throughout the country.

- 1978 - Guatemala. Military and economic assistance to the pro-American dictator Lucas Garcie, who introduced one of the most repressive regimes in this country. More
than 20,000 civilians were killed with the financial assistance of the United States.
— 1993 – 1995 – Bosnia. Patrolling of no-fly zones during the Civil War; downed planes, bombing of Serbs.
- 1999 - ignoring the norms of international law, bypassing the UN and the Security Council, the United States NATO forces launched a campaign of 78-day aerial bombing of the sovereign state of Yugoslavia.
- 2000 - coup in Belgrade. The Americans have finally overthrown the hated Milosevic.
- 2014 - Ukraine

CGtrader does not have official representative offices or legal entities in Russia that work in the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation and pay taxes, CGtrader could close them with no questions, BUT they decided to shift the responsibility to ordinary freelancers and hurt simple users.
CGtrader imagined himself as the arbiter of justice.

Stupid discussion, and a waste of our time. I support the actions of CGTrader, and it would be fine with me if CGTrader deletes this thread so that we don't have to entertain this stupidity any longer.

Gavlan,
I read the propaganda on both sides and also speak with Ukrainians and Russians who now live in Canada in addition to reading history books. I am well aware of Russia's claims as well as Ukraine's.
Do you seriously believe that Russian is the victim here? Is that why most of the free world condemn Russia for this attack? Is this why almost all of the previous nations that were part of the U.S.S.R. joined NATO because life under Soviet rule was so pleasant? Is this why people would risk being killed crossing the Berlin wall to escape a country that was fair and democratic? Some of your supporters are countries like North Korea, China, Iran, Venezuela. Almost all of those countries have appalling human rights records and almost all are dictatorships.
I don't think the Russian artists on this site are aware of what is going to be coming in the future. You all complain about CGTrader suspending your accounts until the sanctions are lifted but the way things are going right now, I think that will be the least of your problems.
It's so unfortunate that a country like yours will be devolving into a 3rd world because of Putin and his supporters. You will indeed be discriminated against almost everywhere in the world because everyone will look at you as supporters of Putin, regardless of whether you voted for him or not. Your world will be shrinking as restrictions will grow. I'm not making threats, just speculating on what will happen. I encourage you objectively theorize what will happen in the future, not just the now.
Putin is already threatening nuclear retaliation. Is this actions of a sane man? Is the end of life on this planet really worth Ukraine?
When you enable a madman, your hands are also stained with the blood of his victims. No amount of soap or tears can wash that away.

constantine77,
Most of those conflicts were a result of the Soviet Union and Russia starting them. Perhaps you should look up Russia's record. Who really is the threat? What about Chechnya, Georgia, Afghanistan to name a few?

I have sent a suggestion to CGTrader to stop and remove all political, religious and racial comments on their website. This is a 3D site and not a political battleground. It is apparent that minds will not be swayed by anything said on here, so there is no point in continuing any more discussion. I'm guilty as well for adding my perspectives on this war, but no more. We all will have to deal with the ramifications of Putin's aggression in all our personal lives and I just hope we are still alive after this is all over. From reading the comments I have come to realize that compassion and empathy are traits that are absent from a lot of Russian members here (but not all).

I'm from Belarus. Russian forces occupy our territory and our so-called president surrendered the country to the Russians.
Banning people from Belarus is like banning Polish people in WW2, because Nazis occupied their territory.

At this point just throw a nuke on our heads. Better than starving anyway.

My compassion to Belarus and Russian colleagues. We all suffer in this "big boy games". It's not your fault and I'm sad to see how you're being punished with no guilt on your shoulders. I hope this will change soon.

I'm hearing a lot of rhetoric condemning CGTrader for their "unfair" decision to stand with Ukraine, but very little compassion about the hundreds of civilians being murdered. If you don't like CGTrader's policies...leave, go away, exit, cancel your account, etc. Your complaints only show how little you care for humanity and that the most important thing in your life is you and your little world. @TazMan2000 It's estimated that 1 million Iraq civilians were killed by the US invasion and millions more internally displaced in Iraq, as does Afghanistan show a similar trail of US led destruction. Millions are starving to death in Yemen through Saudi blockades and an onslaught of bombings using US weapons. The number of violent coups and attempted coups throughout Latin America all have financial ties to the US government. The US is the biggest manufacturer of weapons throughout the world, but I do not ethnically discriminate against Americans, especially 3D artists of all people. Where is your condemnation for the US?

What do you expect from a fascist company like CGTrader? Its based in the clown country of Lithuania.

So it is time to summarize.
ALL this 6 month Europe and Lithuania in particular(CGTrader head office) continued pumping up putin's regime with giant money. As all these 20 years before while russians have made many attempts to influence the government. Did you help us though? No answer needed.

Information may differs but here is what we all got:
for 6 month total help to Ukraine is about $10 billions
for 6 month only Europe buy gas and oil from putin for.....$75 billions.

10 billions for Ukraine supply and 75 billions for bastard putin only from Europe. USA keeps buying, China and many others. He keeps killing ukrainians for this money - this is your fault.
You still can't even close the sky above Ukraine. For 6 month. Half of Miami still belongs to russian deputies and oligarchs.
Me and other russians and people of Belarus sill can't do anything, we can't even leave our countries because our poorness. Why? Because putin and putin's dog lukashenko are too powerfull as we all see now. But who made them so?
Russians can't stop pootin...blame for them, let's hold them collectively responsible! But what about Europe and USA? Ukrainians keep dying, fooled russians keeps dying.

marka wrote
I want the war to end ASAP too. But you got your facts a bit wrong here. The U.S. does not buy oil or gas from Russia, maybe a little oil at the beginning of the conflict because we have refineries that can refine it and could make a profit, but no natural gas was ever bought from Russia as we don't need it. My grandfather was a geologist and started an oil exploration company here in the U.S. Me and my family still benefit from royalties off oil and natural gas in places like North Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Texas. Me and other family members have made a lot of money off the current situation and I do not really need the income I get from CG Trader, I mostly do it because I enjoy 3D work and I am an artist at heart. That being said I am donating a lot of that money to Ukraine and Ukrainian causes because I feel guilty benefiting from other people's suffering. Not to anything war related, but to help Ukrainian civilians who need it. I would much rather see Ukrainians and others able to live in peace than personally profit from this horrible war. I also thought that Miami was mostly owned by Cuban exiles from the Castro Regime and cruise ship companies, didn't know there were so many rich Russians there too.
LucasArtz wrote

@marka Ukraine was listed as one of the most corrupt countries on earth. The invasion of Ukraine didn't suddenly make it less corrupt. I hope you can accept that the majority of your money may very well not be going to civilians in need. If you want peace, id suggest a good starting point of speaking out against the US/EU who have sabotaged peace talks and continually throw weapons into the fire. Maybe you need to read up about sanctions too - you seem to think they're simply not buying a counties stuff - which is only part of it.
