Have you tried studying 3D modeling to get into the game development industry? Because that method worked for CGTrader user Zura! Read on to learn his success story!

Tell us a little about your yourself.

I’m a 19-year-old 3D game artist living in Georgia (Europe), studying and working at ‘’StormBringer Studios’’, an indie game development studio.

How did you start with 3D modeling ?

I personally started studying 3D 3 years ago and I was teaching myself through tutorials. ‘’StormBringer Studios’’ contacted me and asked if I wanted to come and learn some more of 3D and game development. Of course, it was my dream to work in a game development studio, so I agreed! Soon, I was studying in their company - and i am studying to this day!

The team at ‘’StormBringer’’ and all the people there became my second family in this past year that I spent with them .

What kind of research do you do before you start modeling?

My research depends on the kind of model i am doing. For example, at the moment I am working on a modular system of interiors of old buildings (of my design) and I naturally had to research some old buildings! I'm look at what materials were used to decorate them.
what kind of wood wallpapers they where using and doing lots and lots of research about lighting because I'm working in Unity.

How do you market your products? Can you share some tips & tricks?

When I market my assets, I try to make the best quality models, then render them at best quality possible and post them on 3D websites or join some 3D groups on social networks and post my works there. That's a nice trick to get many people to see your works - and for getting feedback, too.
Another good idea is to get as many people from 3D industry as you can on your friends list.

What do you enjoy most about working in the industry?

The most enjoyable thing about working in the game development industry is doing what you love and being with people who you enjoy being with.

Do you have favorite moment from working in the industry to share with us ?

My favorite moment was when I began studying at ‘’Storm Bringer’’! I think it was the third month of me studying there: I was working hard on one model and it took me 2 months to get it done, and to finally finish it was the he best feeling ever.

Whats the hardest thing being a game development team/studio

In my opinion hardest thing is to not disappoint the ones you are working with and the ones that put so much time and effort in you.

What is the most impressive 3D model/asset you have ever seen?

I’m a big fan of ‘Darksiders and Assassin’s Creed’ series! For me personally, the most impressive models are War and Chaos Eater from first Darksiders game.
I also think that main characters Jacob and Evie from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate are very well made.

Do you have a dream or an idea that you hope to model one day?

I wish to model one character that i have drawn for myself long time ago. But I have a lot to learn before I can do that!

Please finish the following sentences (be as honest as you can... : )

Our greatest inspiration is... video games!

I abandon some of my works because... it's late at night and I need to get at least some sleep before I can continue working on them.

When I catch myself procrastinating I...
work twice as hard to get it done on time!

I am most productive when...
I am not stressed!

I take a break from our work when... I need to sleep or I'm finished with my task!
