Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the 3D industry?

Hello, my name is Oleg. I started out creating 2D graphic characters, which were made with flash. Later on, I found my first love for 3D in the program “poser 4”.

What are the most important characteristics to become a recognized artist according to you?

I think, if you aim to be the best you need to constantly develop grasp on new technology and new practices, so you can always find the most efficient and comfortable way for yourself.

Also, being able to study yourself and work without procrastinating goes a long way. Above all else, though, you should be patient with your work and stay creatively hungry - searching for new ideas all the time, in any way you see fit.

What research methods do you have?

Because of my attraction to fantasy and cartoon models, I usually search for inspiration in work that is not grounded in reality. Sometimes ideas just come to me as I go. However, when it comes to fundamentals, traditional media is the way to go.

What tool would you consider indispensable for your work?

An essential part for me is the dynamic and limitations of the program. I use 3Ds Max for setting up characters and it has worked quite well for me so far.

How would you best describe your projects in three words?

Dreamy, fictional and sharp.

What/who are your influences in life?

One work that left a great impact on me was a book about the control of dreams. It helps you understand and use dreaming as a way of inspiration and allowed me to develop my ideas further.

How do you take a break from work? What are your hobbies?
In my free time I like to turn to nature for relaxation. I like observing the starry sky in silence, without the constant noise of cards or the daily bustle of the city.

Are there any future projects you can tell us about?
I have an idea about making a maze game with my characters playing a part in it. Hopefully, I’ll get working on it soon.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

For me, experience is not measured in years but kilometers traveled. In the end, you can accomplish as much in a single year, as another person will manage in 4 years, it all depends on the mileage you build up, not the time spent on it. Each person has their own pace and that‘s up to them to manage. Maybe in 5 years time I'll have several projects under my belt and continue to expand my ideas.
