The fangtianji is a Chinese weapon, a type of ji. On the left and right of the spearhead are crescent-moon blades called moon fangs. A weapon with only one moon fang was called a blue dragon sword or a sword with only one moon fang. In addition to thrusting and cutting, the moon fang could also be used to block or entangle attacks. Although it is famous as the weapon used by Lu Bu in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, fangtianji first appeared during the Song Dynasty, after the Three Kingdoms period which is the setting of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The idea of attaching moon fangs became popular, and many complex weapons were made, such as the Sun, Moon, and Heavenly Sword with moon fangs attached to the handle, and the Honcheonjeol with four moon fangs and four crushing coins.
