Transformers Countdown Rocket Base

Transformers Countdown Rocket Base 3D print model

Description

Finally, we get to launch the Countdown Rocket Base! There's quite a number of features and details to cover, so we'll just use this first post to launch the files, cover it generally and share the assembly process. Will cover more on its details in a subsequent post.

And here's the Countdown Rocket Base, all printed out, assembled and painted up.

Of course, to get the complete set which makes up the entire rocket base, you will need the following:

Countdown Base Rocket - www.patreon.com/posts/81167154 Scout Vehicle - www.patreon.com/posts/84846088 Gunner Pod - www.patreon.com/posts/86034672

And for a sense of scale, here's the base next to Countdown's other Titan - Omega Supreme!

=== Transformation to Base Mode ===

Deploying this into its base mode takes the following steps.

  1. Lift the top portion upwards, and flip down the the keyboards and platform section.

  2. Next, swing open the two side portions.

  3. Third, rotate the rocket tower downwards and swing open the side runways of the tower.

  4. Next, the scout vehicle can be attached to the top portion of the base, while the gunner pod can be attached to the forwardmost part of the runways.

Now, anywhere there are the CyberTrack notches, you can use any compatible CyberTrack joints and ramps to have track extend out of the base in any configuration you may like!

=== Assembly ===

Here's an overview of the various sub-assemblies for this build (in the attached images). The name of the print files for these are all prefixed with their sub-assembly.

Hopefully these diagrams should help explain the assembly sufficiently.

It is recommended to source for 5mm pegs and cut them down to size if possible, otherwise the printable versions of these pegs have also been included.

Further, if there are issues with the fitting of the parts, slightly resizing some of them in the slicer before 3d printing may help.

A great thanks to everyone for the support and patience in waiting for the launch of this set, and in our experiment in testing out creating larger and more complex pieces which do take a little more time in the making!

Again, there will be a follow-up post to outline some of the finer details of this piece, but thought it would be fun to let everyone get the files a little earlier first to get ahead with the 3d printing.

Hope you all will enjoy printing and putting this together for your collections!

Happy 3d printing as always! =)

[19 July Update]

Decided to make a quick updates to the side tower piece to add in some exterior 5mm ports and also have CyberTrack notches for the adaptors!

The newly included zip file (attached to this post) will the following sets as shown in the diagram below:

A pair of the tower side pieces with only the exterior 5mm ports A pair of the tower side pieces with exterior 5mm ports and also a side CyberBaseTrack notch. Optional notch filler pieces for both the side and top have also been provided.
