DESCRIPTION

Dakotaraptor was a large dromaeosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 66 million years ago. Measuring up to 5.5 meters (18 feet) in length, it was one of the largest members of the raptor family. Dakotaraptor is characterized by its long, robust legs, which indicate it was a fast and agile predator, and its sickle-shaped claw on each foot, which it likely used to capture and kill prey. It also had feathers, similar to its smaller relatives, providing insights into the evolution of feathers in theropods. Fossils of Dakotaraptor have been discovered in the Hell Creek Formation in North America, offering significant information about the predatory dynamics of the Late Cretaceous ecosystems.
