DESCRIPTION

Baryonyx is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 130-125 million years ago. It is notable for its unique physical characteristics and feeding habits, which set it apart from other theropods of its time.

Baryonyx is one of the few known piscivorous (fish-eating) dinosaurs. Its crocodile-like snout and conical teeth were highly specialized for catching and eating fish. Fossil evidence, including fish scales and bones found in the stomach region of a Baryonyx specimen, supports this dietary preference. However, it is also believed to have been an opportunistic feeder, preying on small dinosaurs and other terrestrial animals when available.
