DESCRIPTION

Model of a BMX bike, or stunt bike if you will, made with the solid surface and parametric design technique. To make it, a real bike was used as a reference, so it is made in real life scale and size. However the default measurement units used when modeling it were mm, so you might need to scale it down when you import it into your scene.

Upon purchase, you will get:

  • RAR file including all the pieces of the model in Solidworks file format, as well as the assembly file.
  • MAX file: the assembly file was imported into 3dsMax as a mesh. You can find in the preview pictures how the bike looks like in 3dsMax.
  • FBX file: exported from the previous one.
  • OBJ and MTL files: you can see in the previews how this file looks like when you open it with Blender.
  • BIP file: with Keyshot default materials and textures used for the renders.

You can also see in the previews details of the OBJ file when it is imported and epxorted into 3dsMax. The objects subdivission is: frame, front, front wheel, back wheel, seat, crank, left pedal, right pedal, inner link (chain) (x26), outer link (chain) (x26). Which is, in fact, how they were divided and designed originally.

The material subdivission was made in the original files and got exported correctly to the rest, however it can get a bit messy as the materials were not named accordingly.

The chain and the gears do not make a perfect match (but close enough), however, this happens to the vast majority of bike models out there.

The model is RIGGED in the solidworks assembly file: the wheels, the front, the pedals and the crank turn as they are supposed to. The crank and the back wheel are linked so as to turn when the other does, and the chain moves along with them aswell. However, most likely this relations were not exported into the other file formats.

We hope you like it, if you have any question do not hesitate to send us a message. Cheers!

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras

Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal

No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.

Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.

UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
