Description

Two stage sounding rocket

First launched in 1953 at Wallops Island, the two stage Nike Deacon rocket was comprised of a Nike booster and Deacon sounding rocket. Used for 4 years for atmospheric studies, it proved to be a cheaper rocket then the Aerobee, with the capability to reach altitudes of 160km.
