This is a Mexican one peso coin from 1978.The images show both sides of the coin:

On the obverse (left image): The Mexican national coat of arms featuring an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak, surrounded by the text ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS (United Mexican States).On the reverse (right image): A profile portrait of a figure wearing traditional indigenous headdress, with the denomination UN PESO and the year 1978 below.

The coin is made of copper-nickel and was part of Mexico's regular circulation currency during that period. The profile on the reverse side depicts José María Morelos, a Mexican Roman Catholic priest and revolutionary rebel leader who led the Mexican War of Independence movement.
