The seller explained the situation about the model textures and is more than willing to help if anyone else ever has the same issue. I use Blender which explains the different circumstance.

The model is exactly what you see in the promo pictures, minus the round base with dirt and grass - which is how I wanted it anyway. I was afraid I'd be stuck with all the extra unneeded polygons in the round base, but the model is strictly the tree and Spanish moss hanging from its branches. It also has a few alternate versions with less foliage. Really cool looking spooky swamp tree.
