The trees stand gnarled and ancient, their bark crevassed and split like old bone beneath a curse. Branches twist into unnatural shapes, reaching skyward like skeletal arms frozen in a silent scream. Green moss clings to the trunks, dripping with moisture that smells faintly of decay. The wind passes through the branches like a whisper from the grave. Trees are a critical part of any fantasy environment, and this item handsomely fills the bill. Rich greens, browns, and tans create a compelling color palette. You can practically feel the hanging vines grasp you in passing underneath. The challenge with filling a forest in a game is that good trees typically have very high vertex counts, often passing 100000. That's fine for a few trees, but not if you need a hundred. At 11895 vertices, this piece is compact in memory and processor use for the quality of the draw. The leaves and hanging vines use a separate texture, taking advantage of transparency with the included alpha file. I just use the object and texture files for an OpenGL game, and the provided files in this package have worked well. Oddly the 'f' (facing) indices in the object file are all negative. This can be fixed programmatically by adding 2773 to each index, bringing them positive. A fine example of the environment modelling work of cg-sea.
