The immediacy of the Single Basket Lamp draws anyone's attention. Its essential form was developed by Stephen in a small basket weaving community outside of Thies, the second city of Senegal. Given the fact that all Senegalese sweetgrass baskets are uniquely woven in form, color and pattern from a collective memory passed down for generations, Stephen was the first in this community to teach the weavers to work from a drawing. The resulting iconic pendant lamp is available with and without a diffuser to showcase it's simple, yet beautiful pattern language and technique inside and out. Shown here with a fluorescent painted interior. Prototyped and developed as part of the Studio Museum exhibition, Stephen Burks Man Made, 2011.
This 3D model is Stephen Burks Man Made studio approved and is a precise replica of the real item.
