DESCRIPTION

At 20 years old, I began shifting my focus from iconic skyscrapers to something equally powerful — social housing.

This 7-level affordable housing project represents a turning point in my architectural thinking. It was the moment I started questioning density, accessibility, dignity, and the importance of quality public space in urban environments.

Project characteristics:

• 7 residential levels• Social / affordable housing typology• Elevated volumes on pilotis• Integrated public open spaces• Semi-open circulation corridors• Central communal void• Mixed material façade expression• Urban-friendly ground plane

Instead of focusing on height and skyline presence, this project explores human scale, community interaction, and spatial generosity within limited economic conditions.

The design is composed of two primary volumes connected by open circulation bridges, creating a permeable central courtyard that encourages social interaction, natural ventilation, and visual connectivity between residents.

The elevated volumes allow the ground level to function as public space — shaded, open, and flexible. Trees and pedestrian paths activate the base, reinforcing the idea that social housing should not feel isolated or inferior, but integrated and dignified.

The façade combines horizontal glazing bands with warm material panels, balancing modern efficiency with residential warmth. The open corridor system reduces construction cost while maintaining light and airflow.

At 20, I started understanding that architecture is not just about iconic towers — it is about responsibility.

Growing up deaf shaped how I experience space. Silence made me observe more. Architecture became not only my language, but also my way of understanding how environments affect people’s lives. Social housing became important to me because cities cannot grow sustainably without inclusive density.

This project marks the beginning of my exploration into urban equity, mid-rise density, and public space quality within constrained budgets.

Good architecture should not be exclusive.Dignity should not be a luxury.
