This head was the first step in my previous creation: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994): The Creature, a custom figure...
The basis for its creation was a base mesh of a common human head, available in Z-Brush. I decided to create a replica as close as possible to Mr. De Niro's face and then alter its shape to match the face of the creature in the film. I chose to work with photos of Mr. De Niro from two of his works: Taxi Driver (1976) and A Bronx Tale (1993, a year before Frankenstein). I began creating the head in early August, and Mr. De Niro's '1st Prototype' was completed on the 11th of the same month. Throughout the month, I expanded on the concept, adding details of Mr. De Niro's heavy makeup, as seen in behind-the-scenes images. From August 11th to September 4th, I created the final prototype of the FrankeNiro head. I developed the lines, deformities, seams, and details based on a set of references, including the magnificent sketch by Master Eugene Napadovsky (@napadovsky_art), the 1/5 bust from r/modelmakers, the 1/4 statuette from Screamin', as well as photos, masks, and models from the film itself. The result was a very sustainable model.
