DESCRIPTION

Flyboy Barnstorm Pilot Rigged and Animated for Lightwave 2019 and up and for 3DS Max version 2020 and up

This motion capture rigged version is intended to be used alone or in conjunction with the model “Flyboy Barnstorm Pilot” available seperatly (whos rig is built for traditional hand animation).

Ideally you would use the “Traditional Pose” model (the other one available) for close up or specific motions that you need to animate by hand.

And you would use this model for gross motions, walking, jumping etc... although you can hand pose this one too, it just works differently.

This rig is designed primarily for the motion capture data to animate.
------------------------------------------------------------
Both models have the same Morph targets:
There are 51 morphs in this object - 8 of them are Phoneme controls:

The helmit also has 3 morph for raising the goggles and for moving the side flaps up and out of the way of the collar if needed.
------------------------------------------------------------
This Model also includes 25 motion capture (MOCAP) data files for you to apply:

CrouchToStand_83B StandToSit_67 Turn_LT_90_28
JogInPlace_77C StartWalkInPlace_88 Turn_RT_90_28
Jump_65 StartWalkStop_212B Walk1_InPlace_88-B
QuickFormalBow_82 StartWalkStopSalute_280-C WalkBackwardsInPlace_36
RunInPlace_21C StopWalkInPlace_90 WalkTurnSit_455
Salute_85 T-Pose_10
SittingIdle_128 Talking-Seq2_364
SitToStand_68 Talking0_113
StandingIdle_90 Talking1_155
StandToCrouch_19 Talking2_118

The MOCAP data was collected from various sources from BVH files to Mixamo (online) - and for both Max and Lightwave the models where “Characterized” in Autodesk MotionBuilder (MB) and then the motion data was also applied in MB.

For both 3DS Max and Lightwave this model comes with the following scenes:
Mocap_MASTER_BoneSetup - the base model and rig from which the characterized master was made.
Mocap_SetUp_Rig - Use this rig and scene to add your MOCAP data to (The Master)
Mocap_WalkStopSalute - see it finished
SIG1 or SIG2 - Signature image (In it’s own folder in MAX)
JogInPlace_77C-moving - Using a null to move the charactor

And the following folders:
Export From LW(MAX) To Characterize - the base uncharacterized fbx export
Chacterized for MotionBuilder - the characterized fbx
MB Motions - MotionBuilder motions
Aviator LW(MAX) Motions - the Lightwave “hmot” motions ot the Max ““ motions
------------------------------------------------------------
On each version of the model there is a Master null or helper, that allows the entire model to move as a unit. It is located between the feet on the ground.

The scarf has it’s own bones and you can animate them as required.

Motion capture has always been the “Big Mystery” but it looks so cool, that is is worth the effort to work through.

I have tried to make this as easy as possible by providing characterized motion files and base setup scenes that you can run without effort. It will take some work to make changes to those scenes, and unhappily there is not a lot of help out there for Lightwave. For Max much more is available.

FB_Mocap_SetUp_Rig and FBMocap_WalkStopSalute scenes work out of the box and you can change or add “hmot” or “xaf” files to those scenes as you wish - so no worries there.

Unsupported objects:
- Lights

Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
