PARALLEL AXIS GEAR DIFFERENTIAL

Based on Alexander Brown's 1902 US patent this is a compact planetary gear differential. The choice of crown gears provided are a sprocket for a chain drive, and a spur gear for direct gearing from the engine. Either one could be replaced with bevelled crown gears (not included). This design is cheaper to produce than the more common bevel-geared version and it can take up less space and weigh less.
