Pike, or common pike, (Latin Esox lucius) is a fish of the pike family. Distributed in the fresh waters of Eurasia and North America. It usually lives in the coastal zone, in aquatic thickets, in non-current or weakly-flowing waters. It can also occur in desalinated parts of the seas, for example, in the Finnish, Riga and Curonian bays of the Baltic Sea, in the Taganrog Bay of the Azov Sea.
