Real HDR is a stand-alone application that allows a user to paint lights directly onto a 32-bit high dynamic range image. The program has a second part that allows the user to create custom skyscape HDR images, placing the sun and voxel-based clouds as desired and including atmospheric moisture. This kind of HDR image can be used by architects and others as a backplate, as well as to provide the primary light source. Recently, I wrote a tutorial for this application showing how it can be used for professional lighting purposes. The tutorial is in *.pdf format and requires about 15 minutes to read through.
