What is the Annual CGTrader Scholarship?

CGTrader is the largest 3D model marketplace backed by the strong designer community of more than 1mln members. CGTrader was founded with the goal to ensure fair marketplace conditions for 3D designers.

Each semester CGTrader challenges students to dig into the field of technology writing an essay on how innovative technologies are transforming our lives.

Enter the CGTrader Scholarship 2017 challenge to win $3,000 for your education bills. The best submission will be awarded $2,000 while the two runners-up will receive $500 each.

How to enter?

Write and submit an original essay on the topic “Using games for social good and playful learning”.

Gaming is often associated to addiction, loss of sense of reality and human interactions. However, gamification is the concept more and more often entering business, academics and everyday life. Games are engaging and thus can be used to turn any boring or unpleasant activity into fun task. There are already some great examples of how learning is made playful, physical exercising gets easier to commit, playing while going through medical treatment makes the procedures easier to go through or even made more effective. Express your ideas on how games can solve a social problem, make an activity more engaging, discuss pros and cons of gamification or review best examples encountered while writing a short essay and apply for scholarship.

Terms & Conditions

Applicant Eligibility

Applicant must be full-time enrolled in a senior year of high school, undergraduate or graduate-level degree program at an accredited academic institution and should be able to present proof of status at the request of CGTrader.

The student should have at least 2.5 in GPA in the last study period and be able to provide the proof of the academic achievement upon the request of the organizer.

CGTrader employees and associates, as well as their family members, employees of CGTrader subsidiaries and investor companies, advertising and promotion agencies involved in the project are not eligible for participation.

Description of Funds

The total scholarship fund is $3,000 and three entries are awarded. A one time $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to the author of the best submission, while the two runner ups will be awarded $500 each. Funds are provided by Payments are issued by CGTrader. Scholarship is payable via Direct Deposit, via PayPal to the accredited university or directly to the winner as designated by the applicant after the application deadline (Winter semester- January 15, 2018, 12AM GMT., Summer semester- July 15, 2018, 12AM GMT.). The taxes applicable in the specific state are deducted from the scholarship.

CGTrader, Ltd. awards students $6,000 annually for participating in CGTrader Annual Scholarship, a competition carried twice a year. Each semester a different technology-related question is raised to encourage students interest in innovations. The details of the next semester scholarship will be announced on this page shortly after the close date of current opening.

Winner Selection and Announcements

The winners of the scholarship will be selected by CGTrader representatives. The review process will begin immediately following the application deadline. Applicants will be judged on the originality, thoughtfulness, clarity and insight presented in the essay.

The winners of the winter scholarship will be announced by January 30, 2018, summer scholarship - July 15, 2018.

Essays must solely be the work of the entrant. Late applications and plagiarized essays will be automatically disqualified. CGTrader keeps the right to post best submissions on the company's blog giving credits to the author.

Responsibilities of Scholarship Recipients

It is the recipient's responsibility to verify receipt of funds with their designated institution and notify CGTrader, Inc. should the award payment be not received on or approximately 30 days from the issue date.
