The canister will hold a roll of 120 or the harder find 220 film with or without the original foil-ish wrapper. It also has lid that snaps closed.
What sets it apart from other 120 film holders is that it has an interstitial space and openings in the side of the canister that you can slide in a strip of plastic of a different color resin to indicated what type of film is in the canister. Looking at the pictures should help explain it better.
Is this better that just writing it on the side of the canister? Maybe .....Possibly. Anyway , it was fun to design and print and it kinda looks cool in a much looser sense of the word cool. Also, my wife thought it looked cute, so I have that going for me (unga ga lunga unga - Bill Murry).
There is a pre-labeled version, and a blank version. The labeled version has Kodak, Konica, Ilford and Other on one half and 100, 200, 400, 1600 on the other. I know Konica doesn't make film anymore but they used to make Konica 750. Yum!!! I love that film!! Come to think of it, I think some people just shot a few different types of film so you could just label each indicator with that film. You have 8 slots to play with. I'm a film junkie so that wouldn't work for me. Every time a new film comes out I’m like:
Humm... maybe I’ll just get a roll or two...maybe 5..... humm 10 would be best....probably in 35mm too....
Yes, it’s a sickness. So now let's talk about what’s in the basement refrigerator……. Hee hee
Make sure to clean out the interstitial spaces before you clean and cure the final print ( For you resin 3D printers out there). I use compressed air to clean out these spaces. I put some tiny holes at the bottoms of the spaces to help with that. Not sure if it will help but it might.
These could also be good for any small items that you need to containerize.
Have fun and and shoot film,
Tom
